Cryptic crossword No 357

Brilliant - I especially liked 9a, 14d and 16d...

Fantastic grid, Gollum, and quite cathartic to do the puzzle in the circumstances. I managed about half of it fairly quickly and then struggled with some rather obscure words and tricky wordplay, resorting to a few reveals in the end. I particularly enjoyed 9A, 13A, 15A and 6D, and admired many others once I had read the annotations. Good to see you have embraced the concept of second anagrinds in subtractive anagrams!

Crikey Gollum! Remarkable grid and, as Coot has said, a mix of gettable and tough solutions. I, too, did end up revealing some at the end but, along the way, enjoyed 13a, 17a, 22a, 27a, 5d and 16d SPOILERS IN REPLY
