Great stuff NoBadWeather! You definitely seem to favour complex charades, and though I’m generally a fan of the short and sweet clue I’ll hand it to you for pulling off 14a, 5d, 8d, 9d and 16d. I also liked 7a, 10a (not in my lists but I appreciated ‘set out’), 14a, 1d, 3d (great misdirection!) and 15d (nice). The hidden indicator in 17d was another novelty- but I really like your ‘not straight off the shelf’ approach. Just a few spoilerettes…
