Nice one Velorum! An enjoyable solve and some very clever (misleading) wordplay - particularly appreciated 4a, 9a, 12a, 19a, 1d, 8d among others. A couple of reservations (with spoilers) in reply.

Thanks Velorum! Really enjoyed this, particularly the fresh devices in 11A and 6D. 19A raised a smile as well. Not a quibble, but a comment in reply.

Thanks Velorum, I enjoyed this a lot and would reiterate Amoeba's point about the fresh approach in a lot of clues. In particular on this front I liked "gasket" in 9a. Other favourites were 19a, 27a, 3d (excellent anagram), 23d and 25d.

Plenty to like in this Velorum. In particular, for me, 1a, 9a (very neat!), 10a, 12a, 19a, 27a, 7d, 8d (lol), 19d. Some surfaces read very well indeed; there's a few that flow less well but we've all had that challenge. A couple of comments/queries in reply. SPOILERS IN REPLY.
