Interested in everyone's views on 2d. Fair to the solver?

Particularly enjoyed 1A, 8D, 13D and 23D. As I've said elsewhere, I'm quite happy with 2D. 12A was devilish (and I couldn't parse without the annotation) but fair. One small quibble in the reply.

Fun and enjoyable if a quick solve (not a complaint). Particularly liked 10A, 12A (excellent), 18A (perhaps a slightly dodgy def but it made me laugh), 1D, 2D (fair IMO), 4D (love a good Everyman style primarily), 8D (another laugh), 19D, 23D and 24D (agree with Amoeba). Thanks

Thanks plumbwizard - that was good fun with lots of amusing and generally succinct clues, and some devious definitions. I wasn’t aware of the device in 2D, but I am now! I particularly liked 14A, 22A, 28A, 5D, 8D and 19D. Very minor niggles in reply.

Enjoyed this. Thanks! Liked 18a and 5d particularly

It's good to learn something new, and while I wasn't familiar with it, the device in 2d seems entirely legitimate and the clue's rather clever. 24d as rewritten is superb. Particular ticks also for 12a (always like a neat clue for a short word), 14a (lovely surface), 22a, 17d, 19d. Of the cavils others have raised, I agree there's probably a superfluous word in 9a but am comfortable with the definition in 18a. Overall a very polished and enjoyable piece of work. Thank you.

Nice one, Plumbwizard, very entertaining. I thought 2d very clever though I’m not familiar with the device. I like it. 24d made me laugh.

I thought this was going to take me longer than it did but that's no criticism. If one can smile at constructions as one writes in the answer, the setter's job is largely done. Particularly liked 5a, 10a, 12a, 14a and 3d, 7d, 13d, 16d, 17d and 24d. Which is quite a long list of 'particular' likes! SPOILERS IN REPLY.

Well done on producing a nice, fun puzzle. I solved this earlier this evening on twitch - if you like you can see/hear me do it at twitch.tv/contocrosswords.

Hi plumbwizard. I don't know if you do the Guardian crossword but there's a clue, early in the puzzle, by Nutmeg today (24th February) that immediately reminded me of 4d - not in style but in substance. And I watched Conto's solve of this - very interesting experience for the setter.
