Cryptic crossword No 3,273

Really excellent grid. Tough but fair all the way through, and hits the sweet spot for me of *just* being doable, and plenty of 'penny drops' moments. Plenty of favourites, but enjoyed 23d, 16a and 4d. More this this please, Podger!

Yes Podger, very good late breakfast fare - thanks! My faves were actually the same as Gennaro’s I see, with the addition of 26a. You seem generally to have a handle on basic cryptic grammar and are using wit and imagination in creating some engaging surface readings. A couple of observations below…
