Cryptic crossword No 3,224

Nice to see you back Kempley 😊 A very enjoyable puzzle, particularly refreshing in its use of less obvious indicators (eg 17a, 2d) and clever substitutions (eg 1a, 9a). Some catchy surfaces, including the bonkers 20a! I don’t normally highlight anagrams in my faves list unless I think they’re really good, so make of that what you will. Faves list: 1a, 9a! 10a, 11a (always up for a good re), 20a, 2d, 5d, 12d, 16d. Thanks!

Thanks Kempley for a nicely crafted crossword with my favourites being 18a, 4d, 12d, 15d, 21d, and 22d. I nho 5a or 16d but they were easy enough to solve from the wordplay. I guessed but couldn't fully parse 9a (I misread the definition) and 20a (nho the Liverpool hotel). All in all a pleasant outing for me.

Very enjoyable! Faves: 1a nice start, 14a, 20a, 5d, 8d (whew! took some doing), 12d. NHO 20a but that's on me. Thanks for more good fun.

Trickier than your last couple of outings with 1a, 9a and 5d all requiring a bit of thought. Likes inc 11a, 14a, 18a, 20a because it made me laugh, 25a, 2d, 16d which brings back memories of the 70's, and 21d. Thanks. PM
