Agree with tpgrammar this was top notch. Almost impossible to pick favourites but 6a, 12a, 23a, 1d, 6d, 8d stand out because of the vivid images conjured by the surfaces. Thanks

Very good! This made for a most enjoyable CS stream.

Wow, a great set of clues. Every surface is <chef's kiss>. A few went in straight away, and a handful took a while longer to click - but the parsing was always a pleasure. 3d, 7a, 8d, 14a, 13a, 9d, 27a, 26a, 21a.... basically all of them were beautifully crafted. thought 15d would have been more of phrase ("in a" or "by" or something) - but that was the only tiny thing. I aspire to be able to write these kinds of perfectly formed clues that are so succinct and adhere to each principle. Fab!

I missed the CS stream but am pleased I gave this a go subsequently. Some very smooth surfaces and nice constructions throughout and, as others have observed, no small amount of wit. Chapeau. Not to self to do more of yours. Thanks. PM
