Cryptic crossword No 3,042

Thanks Genarro. Nicely arranged around the theme and plenty of lovely clues. I particularly liked the imagery of 13a and enjoyed a host more including 6a, 26a, 1d, 2d, 4d and 18d.

Great hidden extra which was a big help in secund half. Some brilliant surfaces too! especially liked 7a,11a,13a,25a and 1d,4d,5d,9d

After several attempts I was able to solve all but one clue of this! Guessed but couldn’t parse 16d, which I found very neat once I’d read your notes. Appreciated that Americans may spell and name things differently 😉 and learned a new word in 20d. Hat-tips to 12a, 14a, 19a, 26a, 1d, 4d, 9d. Must’ve been fun staying inside the pale.

Faves: 7a of course, 11a very nice, nho end of 13a but got it from crossers, 14a is cool and reminds me of our discussion last time of your longer clues, same with 25a, 9d. 23a less common spelling but I got it. Great for a Monday morning, keep 'em coming . . . this is #101 right??

I found this set of clues to be particularly smooth, Gennaro, with 17d, 15d (I see the visual), 8d, 2d, 1d, 26a, 24a (surface), 13a (neat), 7a as favorites. That hidden film was actually the first audiobook I ever listened to (great narrator) and the film matched it almost perfectly. Thanks for a highly enjoyable puzzle.
