The theme made it eminently solvable but still enjoyable .The long answer at 12 etc is simply brilliant -well done

Ah, those were the daze! You packed such a lot in, with a remarkable anagram at the heart of it. Yes, mostly write-ins but really enjoyable nonetheless. I thought 23a, 5d, 16d and 21d had some extra tickle. A black and white album for collectors! Thanks

Not being a fan of the group, much of this meant nothing. But the central anagram was brilliant!
