Very nice grid! Particularly fond of 1a, 11a, 20a (fantastic indicator!), 28a, 4d. Never twigged the theme but a good one. Great work!

Nice one, Umpire - a fitting way to mark the anniversary. I found this quite a challenge but with some very satisfying PDMs - especially for 11a, 20a, 30a ("crate of prunes" is superb), 5d. I have a couple of parsing queries - any chance you could make solving notes available? Or maybe they'll make more sense in the morning when I'm less tired...

Thanks, Umpire. That was enjoyable. Completely missed the theme, but my acquaintance with Dr Who is limited to having Tom Baker once appear as a witness in a case. Didn't know the pistol in 1a and remembering the offensive in 7d dates me. Technically I suspect 12a is an i*d*r*ct a*a*r*m, but an innocuous one. But some very nice cluing, my favourites being 30a and 19d. And thank you for celebrating the anniversary.

Echo what's already been said, quite tricky and I needed your annotations for a couple. Didn't know a couple of the animals you used so I learnt something too. Thanks

Amazing grid. Love it all. It was hard to choose, but 4 favourites: 20a, 14d (wow), 6a, 16d. 19d, 10a, 15a great too. Well done.

Very good!

Great puzzle - thanks. I'm not familiar with the theme, though it didn't stop me enjoying this. Among many fine clues I'd pick out the following as favourites - 1a, 11a, 20a, 28a, 29a, 2d, 27d.
