Liked this a lot - a nice easy solve with some neat clueing. Particularly liked 9a, 12a, 28a, 3d, 5d. I thought a couple of definitions were on the loose side which made things a bit trickier but there's nothing wrong with that...Good stuff and thanks for the puzzle

Fun grid. 23a was my favorite; also particularly fond of 27a & 9a.

Thanks, davesomerville. There's a lot of really good stuff in this, particular favourites of mine being 12a, 23a, 27a, 3d, 5d, 14d. 8d struck me as weak, unless there's a subtlety I've missed (annotated solutions are useful to enable us to know what the setter intended). I don't know what the "up" is doing in 2d. Like plumbwizard, I thought some definitions were pushing it a bit, notably in 1d, 22d, 23d.

Thanks @davesomerville. As others have commented, an enjoyable puzzle but with some questionable parts of clueing, particularly in the definitions. I especially enjoyed 9a, 15a, 23a, 14d, 19d but have question marks on 12a, 18a (as an expat Aussie...), 26a, 1d, 7d, 16d, 17d & 23d. Happy to be more specific with suggestions if you'd find that useful. Otherwise, if you're happy with the feedback that definitions are the main thing to work on in next compilations, that might be enough for now.
