Thanks Pyewacket, that was good with my top picks being 7a, 12a, 27a, 14d, 19d, and 23d. I failed with 1d and 24d. More in reply.

I missed your first, Pyewacket, but glad I did this one. Sorry to be late in commenting. A nicely worked theme- quite comprehensive - even it backed you into a few corners with some of the down answers. I enjoyed 11a, 13a (COTD), 22a (podium), 28a/26a, 6d (podium), 14d and 19d (also COTD!). Thanks. PM
