Cryptic crossword No 2,385

I had a lot of fun, even though I didn't grasp the full extent of your hidden surprises. Favourites included 9a, 11a, 18a, 23a, 25a and 3d, 5d, 6d (tied for no.1 with 19d, which was a very neat trick) 22d, 26d (lovely surface). I admit I deployed a few letter reveals to get me over the line, but I'm getting better at your puzzles. Happy Easter, hope you had as much 8a as you wanted!

Thanks Henri for a fun crossword. My favourites were 18a, 25a, 28a, 2d, 20d, and 24d. I didn't need any reveals or have any real parsing questions so I guess this was 'gentle' for me. More in reply.
