Cryptic crossword No 2,302

Super surfaces and a lovely bit of bite – right up my street. Whip-smart &lits too. I was looking for ‘em and you didn’t disappoint. Loved 1a, 13a, 16a, 23a, 2d, 31a. etc. 19d is very sharp too. That parse almost broke me! Not really spoilers …

Very good fun, as ever, SirD! Some particularly funny and colourful surfaces! Long list of likes, but narrowing it down, I’ll choose: 12a 16a 25a 3d 5d and 6d. 1a is probably my COTD: super - loved the surface and WP - but 13a runs it close!

Well, that was pretty tough, Sirdakka, but VERY satisfying. Wit, PDMs and wonderful surfaces throughout. I could have retired happy after the excellent 1a, TBH, but happily went on to admire so many others - eg 12a, 13a, 23a, 1d, 2d, 21d et al.

Thanks sirdakka. When I saw the glowing comments from the upper echelon of MyC I thought I'd give this a try. I was not disappointed. I highly value coherent & witty surfaces and there were plenty of those. My top picks were 1a, 23a, 25a, 2d, 3d, 14d, and 26d. I failed with 27d & needed your notes to parse 1d, the very clever 5d, 19d, and 24d. More in reply.
