Cryptic crossword No 223

This was a bit of a struggle, partly because it's a rather unfriendly grid, with half-a-dozen clues having a majority of unchecked letters (one of the things Ximenes was, I think, justified in complaining about). There were some good ones - I particularly liked 26a, 28a, 7d, 18d. I can't make my mind up whether 6d is clever, or too clever by half, and I think the second part of 15d is weak. In a couple of clues (see SPOILERS in reply), the cryptic grammar doesn't work. But enjoyable overall.
