If you never write another clue as long as you live, you can die happy for having come up with 19d.

What Gollum said! And also lots of other really fun clues in here, Newington - in particular some very ingenious and smile-inducing definitions, e.g. 1A, 12A, 3D (had to check for cultural acceptability but just about ok, I believe), 5D and 21D. The very high anagram count may not be to everyone’s taste (including most editors) but it suits me because it makes the puzzle easier! One minor niggle in reply.

Thanks Newington, some really great clues here and lots of inventive definitions. 19d of course - I'm not completely convinced by the anagrind but the surface more than makes up for that. I also liked 1a, 9a, 28a, 8d, 13d and 20d.

Good stuff. 19d is the stand-out clue, as others have mentioned. 21d also stood out for me, but there's plenty else to enjoy here. 3d made me laugh, whether or not it's culturally acceptable. Quite a few anagrams, as Coot says, but I like that you've been creative with your anagram indicators - several non-standard ones, but for me they work just as well as many that are widely accepted and used. One small quibble in reply...

Nice one. As Coot said, a bit anagram-heavy, but lots to enjoy. I'll call out 5d, 26a, 28a, 20dn and 19dn (as previously mentioned!) as favourites.
