Cryptic crossword No 2,093

I liked this. I only got solved a few on the first pass but it fell out gradually, first the bottom half then the top. That's the mark of a good crossword. Spoilers in reply.

Well, it might have taken you nearly two years to write, Tink, but it was time well spent! A very nice puzzle indeed. Suitably tricky - it wasn't a quick solve - but smooth with only a few in the NW holding out. Interesting constructions and some super surfaces. Plenty to like inc 5a, 7a, 22a, 1d, 4d, 6d, 8d, 17d. Lovely crossword, a fun quick solve until I was defeated by 6d. 18a, 22a and 16d were especially elegant.
