Cryptic crossword No 206

Thanks Newington, I enjoyed that. Some clever wordplay with imaginative indicators. I found the difficulty quite variable, which isn’t a bad thing of itself. However, some clues relied on pretty niche knowledge alongside intricate wordplay, which made them very tricky (15D, 20D and 23D in particular). I don’t understand 5D 19A and not sure 3D 16A quite works. Favourite clues: 9A (neat), 12A, 26A (great spot!), 1D (super surface) and 4D.
