Cryptic crossword No 2,056

Very nice Dave! Lots of well constructed clues here, my favourites were the 20a and 22a pair, 4d (cheeky!), 16d, 19d, 21d, and 27d 1a.

Plenty to like here Dave. It wasn't easy by any means and I had to reveal the odd letter to point me in the right direction. 1a, 20a & 22a (nice combo), 1d, 4d (more Private Eye than Telegraph as is 23d/18a, but both funny), 7d, 14d all took my fancy. Spoilers...

I enjoyed this a lot, Dave, and you have certainly lifted your game. Nice surfaces on the whole, some neat constructions, relatively few serious eyebrow raises and it was all solvable. Amongst those I liked 9a, 32a, 33a, 1d, 2d, 3d, 4d(!), 16d, 19d and 23d/18a which made me laugh. Thanks. PM
