Cryptic crossword No 1,964

Hi Shane. Defo continuing to improve. I liked 4a, 10a, 21a, 28a & 6d. Still some wrinkles. The adjective "affectionate" isn't sufficient to clue the first 2 letters of 16a (a complete description of the letters e.g. "affectionate remark" or something equivalent in meaning to like "how cute!" would work). 'Cuplike' (rather than 'cuplike cavity') doesn't really define 30a either. Using 'surface' in a def for 29a is a bit dissatisfying, likewise using 'time' as part of the hidden fodder for 2d.
