Cryptic crossword No 1,916

Nice one Cigogne! Gentle-ish, with a goodly amount of sharper challenge with good humour. I particularly appreciated 6a, 9a, 18a (COTD), 2d, 12d, 22d among many others. One very minor query, elaborated in reply - spoiler…

Thanks Cigogne. I was lured here by your COMPENSATION clue on DIYCOW. Cunning move. Lots of great stuff here. I found the bottom half easier for the most part. [21d] was hard to see: looseish? Loads of disguise everywhere. Didn't recognise several anagram clues as anagrams until late, misled by surfaces. Fave [18a].
