Cryptic crossword No 1,825

Thanks Yorick, that was fun. Witty clues and fun cross-referencing made for an enjoyable solve. I particularly appreciated 15a, 22a, 26a, 3d, 4d, 7d, 16d among others. A couple of stretchy synonyms and homophones had me headscratching for a bit, but prompted a laugh when recognised - so just the right side of the quibbling line for me. Thanks again!

As OzP says, this was fun Yorick with your references to 4d giving me several occasions to smile. There are a few synonyms I might challenge were I in a more argumentative mood but I solved the clues which is what counts. That was enjoyable and all fell into place nicely. Enjoyed 8a (which took me far longer than it should have done), 11a, 12a (that's come up twice this week), 13a, 21a, 5d, 6d. Homophones definitely forgivable -- amusing rather than annoying!
