Cryptic crossword No 1,601

Quite a mix of clues there Dave. I managed most of it, but some had me foxed to the point of having to do some reveals. As per the annotated solutions, some are pushing the envelope so see how everyone else fares. I particularly enjoyed 11a, 12a(!), 32a, 24d among others.

Thank you, Dave. I was defeated by three clues, but enjoyed a lot of the rest. Favourites 8a, 9a (very neat), 11a, 12a, 28a, 31a, 32a, 3d, 7d, 14d, 19d. I am all for pushing the envelope, and I have frequently argued that the more groanworthy a Spoonerism manages to be, the better, but I think that 20d probably goes too far. As ever, your surfaces are good and frequently amusing, as with 32a and, yes, 20d.
