Thanks Chameleon, there’s some seriously good stuff in this. Lots of great surfaces and well-disguised definitions. Particular favourites were 11A (“non-pro” very nice), 19A (for the image!), 24A (for the disguise), 6D (clever surface), 20D (simple accuracy). I did find some of it rather chewy and had to cheat a little (partly my mediocre solving ability) - see reply

NB: The letter E doesn't appear in any clue or solution. This 11a is my tribute to Georges Perec who wrote a totally E-less novel. His longest novel Life A User's 9a is set in a 7a block of 10a s and features 25a heavily. The device in 16a was inspired by a bit of LAUM where GP phonetically smuggles several friends' names into a 2d describing several paintings.

Thanks for sharing this grid: smart, fun, producing many grins, an odd laugh and a bit of loaf scratching… All finally clicking into position. A triumph! ******

Impressive piece of work, Chameleon. I hadn't read the comments before starting so was unaware of the 11a you'd set yourself. After getting 24a, 25a and 24d, I was on the lookout for a pangram, which is when I realised there were no Es. My first thought was brilliant to do this with no obscure words (although 8d was new to me). Then, I was doubly impressed when I twigged no Es in the clues either. Congratulations!
